dusk of the day

Tapping into opportunity

Time is something very precious to me as of 'current lifestyle' and to be able to make use a fraction of it to slot in these kind of indulgence in the middle of the day, is such a bliss.

Mutiara Damansara

Have not been to this area for the past one year. It really surprise me with all these towers mushrooming like from nowhere. What a frog I am, and I tell people I live in the metropolitan of Kuala Lumpur?

Penchala Tunnel via Sprint

The tunnel is sort of links 2 world apart within a quick drive through, now Jalan Duta to TTDI is reachable within 10mins.

Ipoh

A peace of mind from the tip of my parents' place.

Ipoh's Colonial architecture

Another interesting piece of architecture in Ipoh facing Jalan Laksamana. It deserve a better look-after for such intricate architecture. I hope there'll be a 'strong figure' in Ipoh to start a 'movement' to preserve all these buildings, the way Singaporean did.

Specks of cumulus

Brilliant morning of spring, Malaysian version

It is only 830am of Friday's morning but the sun is blaring bright over the east horizon blinding away Mutiara Damansara at the further tip of the horizon which were cast in light grey silhouette. The sky was also a scarce of clouds.

End of spring?

Interesting, aren't they?

Kuala Ampang revisited

Arrived in destination. Waited.

Ulu Bernam R&R

My family and I would travel via North-South Hiway on a monthly basis to visit my parents in Ipoh. It usually takes us not more than 2 hours on ordinary weekends, less, if we pushed the speed a little bit more than the allowable 110kmph.. tsk tsk..

We usually don't make any 'pit stop' along the hiway, even though we are aware that the facilities and even the food being offered at those R&R would be of a better standard compare to East-West Hiway. I can't exactly recalled the last time I make a stopped in Ulu Bernam R&R and I guess it must have been years ago. Therefore, when such opportunity arrive for me to make this stop, as I kind of worn-out from driving all-day  and the site visit in Lumut some 300km away, it gives me such a surprise to experience a better condition of the R&R compare to the way I remember it. The whole premise has been refurbished to gives a better ambiance, and it is now been better-maintain and the humidity inside is at its comfortable rate. Choice of food is aplenty at reasonable price with a good portion.

So, if you are doing Southbound and should you feel like taking a rest from all those driving, do consider making a stop here and enjoy your cuppa with the famous Yik Mun Pau.

Plaza D'MARA Sitiawan

I was involved with the final part of refurbishment project of turning the former  arcade building into what it is today some years back. It leaves a good feeling that it is still in good condition as seen from the well-maintained lawn. Kudos to MARA Sitiawan for keeping up the good work.

Sitiawan's architecture

I'm taking the opportunity while waiting for the traffic light, to snap some interesting architecture of Sitiawan. It has received new sets of windows but some of other parts are still intact.

Rojak Manjung

Rojak Manjung is very popular afternoon snack in Sitiawan/Sri Manjung. as the names implies, rojak means 'mixing various items together'. The rojak serves here is an elaborate version of Rojak Pasembor (the mamak version) and almost similar to Rojak Singapore where you have more mix of ingredients like fried tofu, cucur (prawn fritters), squid, crab, julienne cucumber, boiled potatoes, hard boiled eggs and fish cakes serves with spicy peanut sauce, a slightly different version of peanut sauce from those that were serve with satay.

It tastes good, I mean the gravy tastes good, with a good dose of spiciness and that's the key to 'rojak'. If the gravy failed to get the approval from majority taste buds, it would only means 'disaster', but that's not the case for Rojak Manjung. For instance, the rojak was all gone when I reach the stall around 5pm that day, which means it has become favorable among majority taste buds. Plus with all the review that I've gathered from the web, I think this rojak is in 'class of its own'.

Located on the Ground Level of D'MARA Plaza Sitiawan along the main road leading to Lumut. You could read more from Foodstreet, or the Ipoh's boy or from its own facebook page

Dockyard facilities

An interesting site visit, but it is so gruelling HOT!

Lumut Naval Base

Road to Lumut

You would pass through this particular stretch of road when you are heading for Lumut/Sitiawan. It's in Seberang Perak, where on both sides of the road lies padi fields. It has currently being harvest so it's look quite barren but it's always gives you such panoramic view each time you pass it through, be it whatever season you are in.

Geot Auto

It's where we did the service for our car. Having to come here more than 3 times in a row within a month is very tiring, physically and financially!  :/

Yik Foong - Ipoh

Complex Yik Foong is used to be the overly famous spot for us teenagers in Ipoh back in the 90's. Perhaps it could be compared to Pertama Complex or even the Bukit Bintang Plaza during it glory days. If you are a teenager and did most of your growing up in Ipoh, you should know better about this place. However, its current state is incomparable to its glory days, sad but true. Still it carry lots of good memories.

Ipoh Market Terrace

I have never gives the existence of this 'Market Terrace' any thoughts. Somehow when I was giving my husband a tour around Ipoh city center, it struck me of the ideas behind having the building there, next to a wet market and how it's been segregated, its function and its spatial planning. I believe there should be an interesting explanation to it.

Taipan USJ

Taipan USJ under the glistening reflection of sunset

Nasi lemak USJ9

One of the best!

Each pack of 'nasi lemak' would cost you only RM1 and it has good portion of sambal, anchovies, plus a quater-cut of hard boiled egg. They also serves other side dishes to go along with your 'nasi lemak' but I usually have it without any of those side dishes. The rice is usually serves piping hot and wrapped in banana leaves which actually enhance its aroma, the sambal is deliciously hot, perhaps a little bit hot for some of you who has a 'mild tongue over hot and spicy stuff' but that's the drill actually. :)

So, if you are interested to give it a try, you can head to USJ9 Subang Jaya, it's a corner lot shop facing Masjid Al-Falaq, along Jalan USJ9/5.
