Wading weeds

Being an architect isn't always about dress to the nine looking good for presentation, some of the time we have to braze through certain obstacle while visiting the project site. This time, I could be consider lucky that the obstacle was just a wading some thick weeds.

catching up running nose in Besut

I wakes up in the morning with my flu has getting worse than previous evening and I didn't have any medication with me right now, so need to survive on running nose for another 12 hours or so before I reach home!

Breakfast at Permai Park Inn was nothing exceptional - the variations I would say - a typical for that grade of hotel. No further complain though. My colleague and I, has taken our time at our leisure pace eventhough we should be reaching Besut by 10:30am but we only leave the hotel at 10am and it's going to take an hour or so to reach our destination.

We are following a new route this morning rather than the usual coastal route, but I'm not sure whether it's going to get us to Besut any faster than usual 1hr 15mins. So, we shall see..

2 days in a row for Besut

It's my second day in a row in Besut. It was a tough morning to wake up to, given to the fact of such gruelling day yesterday. Rush to dress, so that I could have a peaceful time with my breakfast  ;)

Anyway, we missed the allocated time, so we need to rush to Besut from Kuala Terengganu, and the whole journey seems to take ages, well, I slept throughout the journey, anyway - lack of sleep, remember?! So, we make it to Besut in one and half hour and official inspection has started. We did most of it yesterday, so wea re quite confident that everything would work out smoothly. So, at the end of it, we received the official declaration that the whole project is a success and we should be polishinging it up for the official hand over of the project.

We are quite delighted that the contractor has been very cooperative, and even prepare a spread for us to feast for lunch. And it caught us by surprise that there are some VIPs dropping by to inspect the site even for a short while!

At 1, we leave the site and head back to Kuala Terengganu to catch the flight home..auww, I can't wait to reach home to my own pillows and bed, and family!

Leaving Terenganu..

I'm not sure where exactly we flying over either PD or Sepang Gold Coast

Interesting breakfast in Besut

I was early this morning, had to swap position with my mom for her to continue keeping an eye on my princess at the hospital. Anyway, despite grabbing quick breakfast, I still managed to reach Skypark at 5:50am. Flight was on schedule and I managed to reach Kuala Terengganu at 8am. The morning sun was blaring bright all the way through and it look like a start of another beautiful day.

THIS explains the boredom of having the aisle seat instead of usual window seat

no interesting view - enjoy the aisle!

I must all cranky with lack of sleep and having an aisle seat doesnt help!

FA on duty

Head for Besut and after an hour drive, we reach our destination in Kg. Raja. at 945am where I join others for morning break. Do you know that, you would not find a typical breakfast of toast and jam or roti canai in Besut, whereby they mostly serves 'barbeque fish or chicken alongside with white rice and curry gravy' for breakfast!!

Kuala Terengganu - Besut again..

The flight this morning was a bit shaky, there are more clouds than usual morning flights but it was just for the first 10 minutes of the journey, whereby the rest of it turn out smooth. Arrive in Kuala Terengganu feeling a little bit sleepy with just 3 hrs of sleep last night. I hope I can stay awake for the meeting..the entire journey from Airport to Besut seems forever!!

900 kilometeres of journey in a day

I wasn't in the mood to snap photos anymore this evening, but this what I've got which showing how strong the wind of east-coast side of the country and I weren't actually following the coastal road this time around - was passing through the internal state route, the stretch known as Jabor-Jerangau via Jerteh exit straight from Besut. We actually passing through the country side of Terengganu-Pahang route... exhausted! It feels like ages to get through the entire stretch of road, with mostly palm plantation on left and right of the road... it feels like I've been sitting in the car for a thousand miles journey!

When you are so tired, nothing beats more than the urgency to lay on your back on a thick fluffy bed and pillows..I'm so eager to get to Kuantan and put the whole traveling to a stop. It was already past 7 and skies are getting dark when I reach Kuantan. With just lunch at noon, no dinner could beats the needs of thick fluffy bed and pillows.. am so damn exhausted!!

Look at those sweeping palms blown by strong wind coming from South China Sea

Through and forth KL-Besut

I was on the earliest flight from Subang Airport to Kuala Terengganu, luckily the weather upon departure was clear which enable me to capture the morning sun creeping through the skies saying hello to the world! But there's a heavy, dark cloud at the landing horizon - scares me out a bit and luckily it was just a light rain upon landing in Kuala Terengganu.  The weather was kept being gloomy entire day.

On my way to Besut, driving through the coastal road I could see the South China Sea leashing on its wave to the coast line-the water was murky, and I think any person in their clear state of mind would not risk it for the sake of having fun on the beach - totally NOT! And for some rivers, the water has risen up. Anyway, meeting was fast and managed to get back to airport on time to catch my return flight which would be landing in KLIA instead of Subang (long story - due to change of itinerary) and on top of that - back to office!! road-runner going for a mad-rush...

breathtaking sunrise

look at those clouds!!

it's started to rain..

Exploring Terengganu - July 2008

My first journey to Besut involved a continuous 600 kilometers of driving from Kuala Lumpur to Terengganu with the first pit-stop for breakfast in Kuantan, where we had a delicious calimari fried rice (it looks more of  fried calimari with rice with big portion of calamari than rice - nice!)
An hour later, we proceed the journey to Terengganu and after 5 hours of drive we reach Marang. We stop over by the coastal road and head for nearby stall for  quick lunch. All throughout, the weather was okay.

We decided to make another stop in Kuala Terengganu city centre which we regret so, as we were caught in traffic congestion. The congestion has delayed our arrival in Merang which is about 45 minutes journey from city centre. We opt to stay at Merang Suria Resort by the Tanjung Rhu Tapai beach facing the Redang Island. The resort however doesn't actually sits facing the beach, and you have to take a 5-minutes walk to take your stroll by the beach, however the beach was private and secluded, but as any other beach that facing South China Sea, it wasn't advisable to take a dip into the water even how alluring it seems to be.. Anyway , our room was on the 2nd floor and the room could be consider as neat. Its floor were finished with tiles which suit the condition of having to walk into the room with all the sands particle creeping your barefoot..Our windows are facing the sea while the entrance corridor was facing the pool, which create an advantage. However, the buffet was quite bland, so don't give a very high expectations on food here.

We checked out the very next day, not due to any bad reason that is, but we need to head for Besut which is about an hour journey from Merang. So, we checked-in at Bukit Keluang Beach Resort. It is an interesting resort with clusters of individual timber chalet with intricate carvings for selection. However it doesn't located immediately to the beach and you would need to walk more than 15minutes to get to the nearest beach.. Due to that, we decided to travel to Kota Bharu as it was only an hour away from our current location.

With all the traveling, we head home straight from Besut, stopping only for lunch.
